There are a handful of states that are continuing to complete their Congressional Redistricting based on 2020 Census Data. As such, we have updates to five state’s Congressional Districts in the Resonate Ignite Platform to ensure you always have access to the most recent and relevant data.
The five states are:
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Louisiana
- North Carolina
- New York
Previously, these states had settled on Congressional District lines for the 2022 midterm elections, and now they have redrawn the lines for the 2024 presidential election.
You will continue to have access to the Congressional Districts as they were prior to the 2024 redistricting for these five states, so you will see two attributes per district. This means any existing audiences, analyses, and audience deliveries using attributes from the five states will continue to work as they do today. This will allow you to continue using the 2022 districts and to also use the new 2024 districts to compare how your audiences may have changed.
For example: Alabama has 7 Congressional Districts. You will see two attributes per district.
- AL -1- Redistricted 2024
- AL – 1- Redistricted 2022
FAQs:
Q: Why are we keeping the 2022 redistricted attributes?
A: Some states drastically re-drew the lines for their districts. We did not want to simply “rip and replace” the old districts with the new ones, but rather introduce the new districts, and communicate with our clients as to the change. This way you’re able to determine how best to update your audiences and audience deliveries to be most reflective of the geography area you wish to analyze.
This also enables you to advise your clients about changes to their district and identify how you may need to adjust messaging or media plans to reach voters in the new districts.
Q: Are any states adding or removing districts?
A: No, none of the 5 states added or removed any districts, just re-drew the Congressional District lines.
Resonate Congressional District Data
As a reminder, Resonate's Geography Data is updated nightly based on observed location data and enables you to use State, DMA® and Congressional District level data as both attributes and insights. Use attributes to build and analyze an audience of people located in a specific Congressional District or view as insights against any audience to help determine where you should focus your targeting.
Note that Resonate Congressional District Data is based on the Congressional District lines by State and by ZIP Code. If a ZIP code is mapped to more than one Congressional District, we determine the appropriate Congressional District based on where a higher percentage of the ZIP code falls within a certain district.
