The final step will be to create and deploy your Track Tags in Google Tag Manager using the site mapping and/or user event action snippets you created.
You will need to follow the appropriate steps outlined below for deploying Site Mapping Tags and/or User Event action tags.
Deploying Site Mapping Tags:
This section will walk through the steps on how you to create Site Mapping Tags that will use your Snippets. You will replace the variables within your snippets with variables created in the previous Create Regex Variables section.
- Within Google Tag Manager, click Tags on the left, then Click the New button
Create Track Tag
- Type in your Tag name, click on Tag Configuration section and select Custom HTML from the Choose Tag Type List,
- Copy and paste your Snippet in the HTML section.
- Click on the Triggering Section and select All Pages.
We are using "all page loads" snippet example to copy into the HTML section. Please note that all the variables in the snippet were replaced with the user-defined variables. In our example, both of our Variables were used in one snippet (tier1 categories, tier2 pages).

Deploying User Event Action Tags:
This section will walk through the steps on how you to create User Event Action Tags that will use your Snippets. As previously mentioned, you will need to select the appropriate user event triggers when creating the tag.
- Within Google Tag Manager, click Tags on the left, then Click the New button
Create Site Mapping Tag
- Type in your Tag name, click on Tag Configuration section and select Custom HTML from the Choose Tag Type List,
- Copy and paste your Snippet in the HTML section.
- Click on the Triggering Section and select the appropriate user event action trigger.
We are using our "Site Action" snippet example to copy into the HTML section. Please note that in GTM, we will need to click on the triggering section and select the "Resonate Login Button click" trigger or the "resonate demo request button clicks to landing page" trigger for the appropriate tag.

- Continue to create any remaining Track Tags to include all your snippets that you created. Please keep in mind your strategy and how you would like the categories/sections to populate in Resonate.
- Publish the Tag(s)
- Once your Tag(s) has seen traffic, the next day you'll be able to see data in Resonate
- In Resonate, click on Segmentation at the top of the screen, click Tags on the left side, then click on Site. As we mentioned, the manner the data is categorized into sections is based on your strategy and its implementation.
