Google Campaign Manager allows placing tags at the Advertiser, Campaign or Placement level. In most cases campaign level tagging will be preferable. For this demonstration we will use the %esid!, %ebuy! And %ecid! macros, however any available DCM macros can be used as well has hardcoded values. A list of DCM macros can be found here: https://support.google.com/dcm/table/6096962?hl=en. Resonate tags will capture whatever is passed through the tag. If using macros, only the ids passed by the macros will be visible in the Resonate platform. We recommend you maintain a dictionary on your end to translate DCM ids to readable names.
Note: Is your campaign going to be site-served? If so, contact your CSM for additional support for site-served implementations.
To apply campaign level event tags in DCM first navigate to the Campaign properties screen and scroll down to Event tags. Here we will create both an Impression and Click Event tag in the Campaign tags section. For this application you will want to create Resonate Impression Media Tag of type URL and a Resonate Media Click Tag of type unencoded. If an Impression Tag of type Image has already been created you can use the URL portion of the tag.
Next, click on New impression event tag.
Set the three dropdowns to the below:
- Application - Apply automatically
- Enabled – Yes
- Tag Type – Image
Paste in the Resonate Media Impression Tag into the Tag URL field
Next, scroll down to the parameter section of the New impression event tag properties window. Set the parameters to the below:
- cachebuster= %n
- sourcekey = Leave as is. ID is hardcoded into tag
- event = media
- partnerid = %esid!
- campaignid = %ebuy!
- creativeid = %ecid!
Click Save. The tag should now be created and applied across the campaign
Next, scroll down to the Click event tags section and click Campaign tags
Click New click event tag
Name the tag and ensure that Enabled is set to yes. Remove the [click_URL] parameter from the Resonate Media Click Tag then paste it into the URL field.
Scroll down to the parameters section of the New click event tag properties window and set the parameters to the below(should mirror the impression tag)
- cachebuster= %n
- sourcekey = Leave as is. ID is hardcoded into tag
- event = media
- partnerid = %esid!
- campaignid = %ebuy!
- creativeid = %ecid!
- lp=%u
Click Save. The tag should now be created and applied across the campaign.
