Before You Get Started
Here are some quick things to note before you begin the process of uploading your CRM file(s) to Resonate via LiveRamp:
- Minimum File Size
- To ensure that your onboarding project is successful and worth the investment, we require that you onboard at least 100,000 records per segment. Smaller files will not generate insights and your match rate will suffer. Learn more about Match Rates the following Knowledge Base article.
- What are the processing times?
- The end-to-end process for onboarding your file to Resonate via LiveRamp can take up to 14 days.
- 7 days for LiveRamp to onboard your data
- 7 days for LiveRamp to distribute your data into Resonate
- The end-to-end process for onboarding your file to Resonate via LiveRamp can take up to 14 days.
- Data Validity Duration
- In general, cookies age out after 90 days; consequently, RCIDs begin degrading and become less capable to provide us with valid insights after 90 days. While it's possible that some cookies last longer, Resonate is not responsible for their accuracy beyond 90 days. This is why we recommend onboarding your segments at least quarterly.
Getting Started
The overall process is very simple. Resonate holds a direct contract with LiveRamp. The steps involved depend on whether you are using Resonate's reseller seat to onboard your data to LiveRamp or your own seat in LiveRamp.
The Process for Using Resonate’s LiveRamp Seat
- Contact Resonate and we’ll invite you to LiveRamp Connect web portal via email
- Use the LiveRamp Connect web portal to upload your CRM file
- To upload your file to LiveRamp, follow these instructions from LiveRamp's support articles. Please note that Files 500 MB and smaller may be uploaded via the LiveRamp instructions. Otherwise, files will need to be uploaded via SFTP, please see below section.
- Be sure to format the file in the correct way so that LiveRamp can onboard your file accurately. For instructions on formatting the file correctly, visit this LiveRamp support article and follow the guidelines for Onboarding Workflow
- Please see our LiveRamp Onboarding: File Format and Headers Requirements article for detailed information. Refer to our sample spreadsheet to ensure that your file is formatted correctly LiveRamp_Resonate_Onboarding_SampleSheet_03132023
- Once your file is uploaded, LiveRamp will match your file to Resonate IDs
- LiveRamp provides us with the matched Resonate IDs organized by your defined groupings
- Repeat these steps for each file you want to upload
- Once you’ve finished uploading all of your files please contact Resonate. If you have specific segments in the file that also need to be distributed, please provide all segment names as well. We can take it from there!
The Process for SFTP (most clients will only need the steps above; this is only required for files larger than 500 MB or for Client SFTP Requirements)
- Resonate will provision SFTP access to one user of your choice through LiveRamp Connect. That user will receive an automated email from LiveRamp with further instructions on setting up their SFTP username and password (separate from the login credentials needed to access the online LiveRamp Connect portal). You’ll need to inform Resonate of the user’s email address who you want to have SFTP access, or the email alias of a team you wish to have access collectively.
- Once you have access, ensure your files are properly formatted, and follow LiveRamp's instructions to upload to their SFTP in the following LiveRamp article Upload a File via LiveRamps’s SFTP.
- Resonate will create an audience to house your uploaded data within LiveRamp Connect, and will share this audience name with you.
- To ensure your file is uploaded to that audience, you'll want to follow LiveRamp's instructions to create a sub-directory within the SFTP "/uploads" directory that matches the name of the audience in LiveRamp Connect. For example, with an audience named “Dog Lovers”, you would upload your file to “/uploads/dog_lovers” with underscore characters replacing spaces in the audience name directory.
- Once you have uploaded your data to the correct directory, inform your Resonate representative. Resonate will then create a support ticket with LiveRamp support to ensure the file is properly ingested and mapped within LiveRamp Connect.
