Below, we are listing rules that you must follow to ensure that the process works and best practices that optimize the outcome of your onboarding efforts. These rules are also detailed in the following LiveRamp article.
Rules
- The minimum size for your file is 100,000 records.
- If you have a larger file and you are bucketing your records into meaningful segments, each segment must contain at least 100,000 records.
- Follow the Formatting Rules - LiveRamp_Resonate_SampleSheet_03132023.csv
- LiveRamp can only accept .CSV files
- Avoid special characters and spaces in the file's name
- Avoid special characters and spaces in the segments' names
- Use dashes or underscores to replace spaces
- e.g. LiveRamp_Resonate_NewVoters_02182016.csv
- Column headers must be in the following order in your file - and the headers in bold are required:
- CCID (Client Customer ID - see below)
- FIRSTNAME
- LASTNAME
- ADDRESS1 (street address line 1)
- ADDRESS2 (street address line 2)
- CITY
- STATE
- ZIP (ZIP Code)
- EMAIL1
- EMAIL2
- EMAIL3
- PHONE1
- PHONE2
- Segment1(ex. HighSpend)
- Segment2 (ex. MediumSpend)
- Segment3 (etc.)
- Leave fields blank where you cannot supply information
- Limit the spreadsheet to 100 columns
- The first field ("Client Customer ID") is an optional field you can include, which can be used as the audience key, allowing us to de-duplicate rows in the uploaded file (in case a file has multiple rows related to the same person).
- If included, the entries in this field should be unique and persistent across all audiences.
- If the client doesn’t have any values to be filled in the CCID column, they can fill it with the PII column with the highest fill rate (example email). Contact your LiveRamp representative if you are not using a Client Customer ID to identify records.
- Note that when using name and postal as an identifier, all required name and postal elements must be included in each record: first name, last name, street address, city, state, and ZIP.
- Note that the ZIP Code field can include either standard 5-digit values or 9-digit ZIP+4 values. Do not include hyphens when sending 9-digit ZIP codes.
Best Practices
- Mind the Data Quality: The better the data, the better the match rate
- Best results: name & mailing address (both are required), and phone number
- Use Segments to bucket your customers
- e.g. Segments for High Spenders, Medium Spenders, Low Spenders, VIP Customers
- Provide Resonate with a data dictionary that describes each attribute
- This helps Resonate understand what you're onboarding
- We can recommend user-friendly names and suggest changes
- Create user-friendly attribute names for your data
