As a part of our continuous efforts to support clients, Resonate will soon release a secure and efficient method for clients to upload data for Onboarding, Data Append and Predictive Modeling products using SFTP, which leverages the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol to ensure encrypted data transmission. This ensures that sensitive data can be securely transferred without exposure to unauthorized access.
To protect data integrity and security, Resonate uses SSH key-based authentication for its SFTP service instead of traditional password-based logins. SSH keys provide a highly secure method for accessing the data upload service by using public and private keys. The public key is stored on Resonate’s server, while the private key remains securely stored with the client, ensuring only authorized parties can access the SFTP service. The use of SSH keys enhances security by eliminating the need for password sharing while ensuring that only authorized systems can initiate a connection.
Resonate wanted to offer a secure method to transfer files to and from our systems and SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) will enable a secure method for transferring files over the internet. SFTP uses SSH (Secure Shell) to encrypt the transfer, ensuring data remains protected during transmission. Unlike standard FTP, SFTP provides a secure channel, making it ideal for transferring sensitive information. It ensures that files transferred to Resonate are encrypted and protected from unauthorized access. Clients can use FileZilla to connect to our server using SSH keys instead of traditional passwords for enhanced security.
When a new client or data partner is brought on for Onboarding, Data Append or Predictive Modeling, Resonate will request the following details from the client:
- Company Name: The official company name of the client.
- Public SSH Key: The public key generated by the client during their SSH key creation process. Ensure it is in OpenSSH format (.pub).
Clients can use FileZilla to connect to Resonate's SFTP server using an SSH private key.
Once clients download FileZilla they will need to configure their connection. Clicking File → Site Manager Should open something similar to below. Clients should click “New Site” then fill in the required information. They will need to use their private key, for the key file, and the proper username and hostname.
