This article covers what you bring, how your engagement is scoped, and what happens through delivery. Standard timeline is within five days of question confirmation.
Scoping
Before your engagement begins, your Resonate contact will scope it with you:
- Decision and question: the decision you need to make, such as who prefers what, who's likely to switch, or how people will respond to a message. This shapes how your question is written and how results are framed at delivery.
- Output: an audience you can put media behind, new insight into how a group thinks, or both.
- Population: all U.S. adults (the default), a defined audience within the U.S. population, or, for politics and advocacy, a specific geography such as every registered voter in a district.
- Your evidence: any surveys, trackers, or first-party files you want included.
- Delivery: Ignite, Cortex, your CRM, Resonate Managed Services or PDF.
Is your question a good fit?
Digital Twins is strongest in categories with deep existing signal to ground a prediction.
- Best for: new questions in mature, well-understood categories; extending existing research to people who weren't surveyed; audience segmentation; and testing described creative, messages, or concepts.
- Not the right fit for: questions shaped by breaking news or real-time events, very new topics without enough history to ground a prediction, awareness measurement, and testing finished creative or video that respondents need to see.
What you submit
- Your questions: written in plain language, with any response options you want tested. Every question is reviewed by a Resonate analyst before it runs, and wording may be refined so the answer is clear and activatable. Learn more about how we define a question in our FAQ article.
Your research (optional, recommended): surveys, trackers, or studies you already have. Your research is the first thing in. It anchors the results rather than being replaced by them.
First-party file (optional): customer or voter records, if you want results tied to your own population. We recommend 300,000+ records. Without a file, engagements can run on Resonate attributes or voter file data alone. File format and ID specifications are available from your Customer Success Manager.
Our process
We follow a seven-step process that takes around 5 days end-to-end:
-
Define the question: the question is finalized around the decision it needs to inform.
-
Gather the evidence: Resonate brings together everything that bears on your question. That includes your own research, Resonate's U.S. Consumer Study and identity graph, published polls, studies, and benchmarks, and Census and known public data.
-
Build the frame: real, ID-matched people from Resonate's identity graph and your file are grouped into cells as small as a few dozen people.
-
Set target context: the evidence sets how many people in each cell should hold each view. These targets are applied to the twins' answers afterward, so the AI can't argue its way past the data.
-
Interview the twins: each person's digital twin answers your questions in their own words. This shows who ranks above whom within each cell, and why.
-
Validate against hold-out: every build is graded against evidence the model never saw. A result ships only if it beats the holdout.
- Project and deliver: every individual receives a score, not an aggregate estimate. Outputs are delivered to your chosen destination and you're notified. Learn more about the delivery process.
What you receive
There's no fixed package. Your team can mix and match:
- Audiences: scored responses as targetable audience in Ignite or Cortex and through Managed Services.
- Verbatim reasoning: the "why" behind every response, in the twins' own words.
- Summary report: key findings, ready to share.
- Run diagnostics: sample size, attributes used, and calibration detail.
How you receive your outputs
- Ignite or Cortex: results arrive as audiences you can explore and activate directly.
- Managed Services: Resonate activates a targetable audience for you through Managed Media.
- Insights are presented in report form.
