Resonate Append enhances your audience files with enriched attributes to drive deeper audience understanding, smarter targeting, more relevant personalization, and more predictive models—delivering higher ROI and conversions across all stages of the customer lifecycle.
Our customer success team will partner with and support you throughout the end-to-end Append process. Here's an overview of the process you can expect:
Note: The steps below are organized by delivery mechanism. Jump to the section that matches your implementation: Standard File Append, Enrichment API, or Snowflake Clean Room.
Standard File Append
1. Scoping and Planning
Resonate will consult with you to scope your unique needs for your Resonate Append project. This will include:
- Identifying the types of IDs to match against (Hashed Emails, MAIDs, Postal Address, ZIP11, IP Address)
- Determining the number of records in your file
- Choosing a delivery frequency of monthly, quarterly, biannually, or annually. We recommend at least quarterly refreshes.
Work with your Resonate Team to select the attributes, clusters, or to commission custom attributes that fulfill your needs. When selecting attributes or clusters, you can use Resonate's Enrichment Guide or work with your team to walk you through the selection process. Once your selections are complete, please be sure to communicate your selections with your Customer Success Manager.
2. Data Preparation
In this step, your team will use the best practices for data preparation and first-party data file formatting guidance to clean, standardize and format your CRM file to maximize match quality and attribute completeness.
3. Delivery Kick-off
During this phase, the file upload location is provided.
Resonate will provide you with options available for you to send us your input data. Our preferred method is accepting your data via Snowflake data share. We do have Box, AWS or SFTP as an option if Snowflake data share does not work for you.
- For Snowflake follow Snowflake Steps for Resonate Append
- For Box, AWS & SFTP use Resonate Append File Formatting instructions to prepare your file and send it to us
- For SFTP follow Resonate Append – Resonate SFTP Setup
4. ID Matching and Data Append
During this phase, Resonate will perform matching processes and will append your agreed upon attributes including privacy aware redactions.
Resonate will provide three deliverables for Resonate Append:
- The Append File
- Key Definitions File
- Summary Report
You can learn more about each deliverable and how to interpret it within this article.
5. File Delivery, Merge, and Analysis
We recommend using your data science or analytics resources who can help ingest these files into your internal tech stack. Your internal team will merge the files and reference the Summary Report to QA and ensure the merging of the files is correct and successful. From here, your team can load into your desired applications for use in analysis, targeting and segmentation, personalization and predictive analytics. You are now ready to achieve smarter decisions, sharper performance, and increased profitability.
Enrichment API Delivery
The Enrichment API enables real-time, record-level attribute append without the need for batch file transfers. This delivery method is ideal for teams that need instant enrichment at the point of data ingestion such as during form fills, CRM updates, or application onboarding flows.
1. Scoping and Planning
Resonate will consult with you to scope your API-based enrichment use case. This will include:
- Identifying the identifier type(s) you will pass at runtime. Hashed Email (HEM_MD5, HEM_SHA1, HEM_SHA256) and IPv4 are the supported inputs.
- Selecting the attributes to be returned in the API response
- Confirming expected call volume and latency requirements
- Reviewing rate limits and authentication setup with your technical team
Work with your Resonate Team and use the Enrichment Guide to finalize your attribute selections. Communicate confirmed selections to your Customer Success Manager before implementation begins.
2. Technical Setup
Your engineering or technical team will complete the API integration. Resonate will provide:
- API Key and authentication details
- Endpoint documentation and request/response schema
See the full Enrichment API Setup Guide for step-by-step integration instructions.
3. Testing and Validation
Before going live, your team should:
- Confirm attribute coverage and response formatting meets expectations
- Validate that matched records return the correct attribute values
4. Go Live and Activate
Once validated, your team will point to the production endpoint. Enriched attributes are returned in real time and can be written directly into your CRM, CDP, or application database for use in targeting, personalization, and analytics.
Snowflake Clean Room Delivery
The Snowflake Clean Room enables privacy-safe, Snowflake-native data enrichment without your data ever leaving your Snowflake environment. This delivery method is ideal for organizations that require secure, cloud-native enrichment at scale. For full setup details, see the Snowflake Clean Room documentation.
1. Scoping and Planning
Resonate will consult with you to scope your clean room enrichment project. This will include:
- Confirming your Snowflake account and region
- Identifying the identifier type(s) to be used for matching (Hashed Email, MAID, IP Address)
- Determining the attributes or clusters to be appended
- Alignment on refresh cadence and data volume expectations
Work with your Resonate Team to finalize attribute selections using the Enrichment Guide, and communicate confirmed selections to your Customer Success Manager.
2. Snowflake Setup and Entitlements
Resonate will configure the clean room environment and provide:
- Snowflake data share entitlements and account setup instructions
- Clean room join policy and query template documentation
See the Snowflake Clean Room Setup Guide for step-by-step instructions.
3. Data Preparation
Your team will prepare and stage your first-party data within your Snowflake environment. Follow Resonate's data formatting guidance to ensure identifier columns are properly formatted for matching (e.g., SHA-256 hashed emails, normalized MAIDs). See the clean room file formatting instructions.
4. ID Matching and Append
Resonate performs matching and attribute append within the clean room environment. Your data never leaves Snowflake. Resonate will deliver:
- An enriched output table within your Snowflake environment
- A Summary Report detailing match rates and attribute coverage
- A Key Definitions File for interpreting appended attributes
5. Activation
Once the enriched output is available in Snowflake, your team can query or export the data directly into your analytics environment, CDP, DSP, or other activation platforms. You are now ready to achieve smarter decisions, sharper performance, and increased profitability.
