As a part of our ongoing commitment to uphold industry standards, we have made an update to the delivery formats from our append process. This update ensures that we will not deliver Survey Value Keys that corresponds to sensitive attributes for individuals residing in US States that have enacted legislation prohibiting targeted advertising based on sensitive attributes.
Resonate identifies the attributes below as sensitive data:
- Racial or ethnic origin
- Religious or philosophical beliefs
- Union membership
- Citizenship or immigration status
- Sexual orientation
- Health information
Starting on April 9, 2025, Resonate will no longer deliver Survey Value Key values that correspond to sensitive attributes for individuals residing in these currently restricted states, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Washington State. This redaction of sensitive attributes will impact the standard and pivoted append data output formats.
Standard Output Format
As part of this release, for the Address or ZIP11 standard append output format we added a new column called “Redacted”, and updated column headers to be more automation friendly by replacing spaces in column headers with an underscore. The Redacted column will show the sensitive Survey Value Key values that we will not deliver for individuals residing in the restricted states listed above. See image below
Address or ZIP11 Standard Append Output Format
When reading the file, attributes assigned within the “Predictions” column can be interpreted as “True” for the ID. Attributes within the “Redacted” column cannot be identified for the ID. Other attributes that are not included in the “Predictions” or “Redacted” columns can be interpreted as “False” for the ID within that row.

Pivoted Output Format
In this release, there are changes in the pivoted append output format.
- We are replacing the data catalog column names with the Survey Value Key value. The Survey Value Key definitions will be delivered in a second file where the Survey Value Key value can be mapped to the Key definitions file.
- We will display a NULL value (empty string) for sensitive Survey Value Keys for individuals residing in the restricted states listed above. 1 will continue to indicate True, 0 will continue to indicate False and NULL will now indicate it's a sensitive Survey Value Key for individuals residing in restricted states.

Note: Sample files for the standard and pivoted formats will be provided so you can update any of your internal processes to accommodate the updated formats, which will start delivering from April 9, 2025, onwards.
