What is a Data Install? A Data Install, also referred to by some companies as a Directory, is a data file consisting of a full set of IDs (in Resonate’s case, IP Addresses) and a set of attributes (in Resonate’s case, Resonate Elements)
What is the deliverable to our clients? A data file that consists of all residential IP Addresses in the Resonate ID Graph (approx. 125M IP Addresses), mapped to the set of attributes(Resonate Elements) chosen by the client(up to 100) for each IP Address
What types of attributes do you recommend for website personalization? It really depends on your goals as an organization, the industry that you’re in and actions you are trying to drive towards. Typically, attributes that are used for personalization consist of key demographics, values and motivations of consumers (why they buy for example), preferences, psychographics, behaviors and in-market signal data.
What data types can I use for the data install? Currently, we are only licensing our Resonate Elements attributes that are in the IP directory. We will be adding additional data types, such as custom attribute models or custom segmentation in upcoming releases.
Why isn’t Age or Gender available for me to choose as attributes for personalization? Age and Gender are demographic data, which is associated to an individual. Since this is an IP Address (which roughly equates to a household) Data Install, the IP Address won’t have a specific Age or Gender associated with it.
What is the ID Key that is being used for data matching? IP Address
What is the format of the data in the install? A compressed .csv file that contains the IP address and associated attributes that you chose from Resonate’s directory. The columns will show each attribute selected with the values of 1, 0, or null.
Do IP addresses change and if so how frequently? How does Resonate deal with this? IP Addresses are relatively stable. If you were to check your IP Address weekly on your home computer, you would see that it changes very infrequently. However, on average, they could change as often as every 3 months. Resonate will provide a complete refresh of your IP Install every other month to ensure that you have the latest and greatest data for every IP Address in the US. This way, you are capturing any new IP Addresses added in the Resonate Identity Graph, but also getting the most recent predictions on the attributes selected.
What are the benefits of using Resonate Data for Website Personalization? Depth of Data, Coverage and Completeness of Data, Uniqueness of data, Frequency of updates
What is authenticated website traffic or visitors? These are visitors that are known to you as a business. They have been previously identified and/or logged into your website.
What is unauthenticated website traffic or visitors? These are visitors to your website that are not known, typically first-time visitors that haven’t logged in. Historically, there has been no way to personalize content, messaging and navigation for these visitors on 1st visit beyond their location or referrer URL– until now.
How might this work in my environment? You likely already have tags firing on your website collecting things such as IP Address. You also may collect the data via partner tags (aka Adobe or similar services) or via user-agent string. You will be responsible for the collection of the IP address, the lookup of the IP Directory, and returning the attributes to the personalization engine to trigger the personalized experience.[JR1]
What are the expected match rates for IP Address? At Resonate, we are seeing 70% to 90% match rates on consumer IP Addresses But, it’s important to understand that websites are under constant bombardment of bots and invalid traffic and there are a lot of factors that can impact overall match rate, including:
Business IP Addresses, which is when you hit a website at work or at a Starbucks, the IP Address of the business is being sent, not the consumer’s IP Address
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) mask a consumer’s actual IP Address.
Why is there a difference between the append catalog and the rAI-Powered Data Install directory? We have chosen a subset of our Resonate Append catalog that are the most appropriate for website personalization across industries and consistently available in our taxonomy.
Can Resonate deliver sensitive data attributes? Yes, but the delivery will contain the values 1,0, or null. If the ID is in a state that prohibits that attribute from being used, you will see a null value for that attribute indicated that we could not provide that data.
Can I combine multiple attributes into one segment? No. Our process does not support this feature at this time.
