How do you share data in Snowflake? What is the difference between Data Sharing and Data clean room in Snowflake?
Data sharing and Data clean room are two different concepts when it comes to sharing your data in Snowflake.
Data sharing refers to the ability to share data among different Snowflake accounts within the same organization or with external organizations. It allows organizations to securely share data without the need for data duplication or ETL processes. With data sharing, data can be shared in real-time, which enables users to have up-to-date data without the need for complex data pipelines.
A clean room is a secure and isolated environment used for data processing and analysis. A clean room is created by creating a new Snowflake account and restricting access to specific data sets or tables. This environment is used for analysis or processing of sensitive data. In a clean room, data is made available to the roles via a secure connection, but they do not have access to the original data or the logic used to derive it.
